What We Do

The Knott Foundation seeks to advance the mission of our founders' legacy of generosity through our standard Grants Program as well as our Cash Flow Loan and Discretionary Grants Programs.  Each year the Foundation averages an estimated $2 million in combined awards through these programs. The focus of our giving for all of our programs is based not only on our Geographic and Programmatic guidelines, but also requires an organizational history of a minimum of one (1) year in operation.

Funding is made throughout the year through the following programs:

  • Grants:  The Knott Foundation awards approximately $1.5 million in general grants each year. The average grant is between $35,000 and $45,000 per year; multi-year grants are seldom awarded. Grants are generally awarded each February, June and October.  Read More

  • Cash Flow Loans: Cash Flow Loans are no-interest loans made to qualifying nonprofits based on delayed receivables such as grant agreements or other reimbursable expenses.  Read More

  • Discretionary Grants:  These are smaller, but often, more responsive grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 to qualified nonprofits.  They are considered on a rolling basis each year.  Read More
