What's New at the Knott Foundation
On October 25, 2011 the Knott Foundation held its Grant Allocation Meeting. At that meeting, the following grant awards were made:
Education
- Baltimore SquashWise: to support year-round tutoring and athletic enrichment for students
- Episcopal Community Services of Maryland: to provide transportation for homeless children to the ARK preschool
- The John Carroll School: to expand the capacity of the development team
- Learning Inc.: to hire the organization's first full-time development professional
- Linwood Center: to provide supported employment for autistic adults
- Sacred Heart School of Glyndon: to enhance classroom technology with SMART boards
- St. John Regional Catholic School: to launch the School's iPad initative for the eighth grade
Human Services
- Caroline Center: to provide job training and education for low income women in Baltimore City
- House of Ruth: to help children affected by domestic violence through therapeutic counseling
- League for People with Disabilities: to expand the capacity of League Industries as a social enterprise
- Light House Shelter: to provide homeless adults with targeted job training and placement
- Women's Housing Coalition: to enhance employment training and health education for low income and homeless women
Catholic Activities
- Benedictine Sisters of Baltimore: to construct an elevator that will ensure all sisters have access to the residential wing of the Monastery
- Ignation Volunteer Corps: to expand the capacity of the Baltimore regional office to recruit volunteers
Health Care
- Little Sisters of the Poor - St. Martin's Home: to support the capacity of the development team
- Loyola University Maryland: to enhance Loyola Clinical Centers' services to clients through technology
